e-Courts Project at Cuttack Judgeship

About:-

The eCourts Project was conceptualized on the basis of the “National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary – 2005” submitted by eCommittee, Supreme Court of India with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT enablement of Courts.

THE PROJECT ENVISAGES:-

• To provide efficient & time-bound citizen centric services delivery as detailed in eCourt Project Litigant’s Charter.
• To develop, install & implement decision support systems in courts.
• To automate the processes to provide transparency in accessibility of information to its stakeholders.
• To enhance judicial productivity, both qualitatively & quantitatively, to make the justice delivery system affordable, accessible, cost effective, predictable, reliable and transparent.

ICT Facilities Available:-

• Computer Server Room & Judicial Service Centre (JSC) –
  Centralized infrastructure for hosting court applications, data storage, and providing technology-enabled services to litigants, advocates, and court staff.
• Court Room Technology and ICT Equipments for Courts –
  Ubuntu-based computer systems, ALL-IN-ONE PCs, multi functional printers, scanners, VC equipments(camera, speaker, mic, image visualizer) for virtual hearing, 3-View Display systems, Display Boards and other ICT devices are available across all court complexes for efficient judicial administration.
• Case Information System (CIS) 4.0 –
  The core court management software used for case filing, registration, allocation, hearing management, order generation, and case status monitoring.
• e-Filing 3.0, e-Payment & Virtual Court(Traffic) –
  Online facilities for electronic filing of cases, payment of court fees/fines, and adjudication of eligible traffic challan matters through Virtual Courts.
• National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) –
  Real-time case statistics and court performance data are published for public access and judicial transparency.

  Official website providing court information, cause lists, case status, judgments, notices, recruitment updates, and citizen services.
• Network Connectivity (LAN, MPLS & FTTH) –
  High-speed and secure network infrastructure connecting court establishments with State and NJDG.
• Virtual Courtroom & Video Conference Facilities –
  Supports hybrid and virtual hearings, enabling participation of advocates, litigants, and officials through secure video conferencing.
• Vulnerable Witness Deposition Centre (VWDC) –
  Specialized facility for recording evidence of vulnerable witnesses in a safe, secure, and child-friendly environment.
• e-Sewa Kendra –
  Single-window assistance centre providing guidance and support for e-Filing, case status, certified copies, online services, and other digital court facilities.
• Touch Screen Kiosks & Digital Display Boards –
  Self-service information kiosks and display systems providing case status, cause lists, courtroom details, and public announcements.
• e-Library –
  Digital access to legal databases, judgments, statutes, rules, notifications, and research materials.
• Digitization of Records & Paperless Courts Initiative –
  Facility for scanning, indexing, and preserving judicial records in digital format to improve retrieval and record management.
• National Service & Tracking of Electronic Processes (NSTEP) –
  Technology-driven system for electronic generation, tracking, and monitoring of summons, notices, and process service activities.
• Odisha Judicial Workflow Automation System (OJWAS) –
  An advanced workflow automation platform aimed at streamlining court administration and judicial processes (currently under implementation/testing).

  Facility for citizens to submit and monitor applications under the Right to Information Act through online mode.

  Automated alerts regarding case filing, hearing dates, orders, and case progress are sent to registered litigants and advocates.
